Disturbing psychological anomalies have been observed among local women particularly those caring for infants who showed signs of inappropriate emotional and sexual attachments to their children, leading in some cases to bizarre episodes of mental collapse, including consumption of their own child’s feces in what appears to be altered states of consciousness.
